University College Roosevelt (UCR) is for those with more than one interest, for those that are passionate about many different disciplines and topics. You can combine courses from Arts & Humanities, Engineering, Sciences and Social Sciences – there are 200 courses to choose from – while building a strong foundation in academic skills. UCR prepares you for your career in modern-day problem solving.
As you follow this broad program, you will be living in guaranteed housing in the historic city of Middelburg, the Netherlands. You will be surrounded by 550 students from all over the world, who are just as motivated, internationally oriented, and socially active as you are. Our students are highly involved in making the UCR community as close-knit as it is by organizing events such as concerts, volleyball matches, guest lectures, or the Christmas Market open to all people from Middelburg.
Student life
All UCR students have to live on campus in one of several housing locations within the center of Middelburg. This is where you will cook, eat, study, and party with fellow students from all over the world. In some locations, you will have your own private bedroom but share bathroom and kitchen facilities with 9 to 15 other students. In our other locations, you either have your own personal apartment or share a bathroom and kitchen with one other student.
University is as much about studying and preparing for your future as it is about meeting new friends, socializing, and acquiring new social skills. Middelburg may not be the biggest of cities, but that is one of its strengths as it offers plenty of activities and locations within a safe and comfortable walking distance.
Middelburg is a city that is both busy and vibrant enough to always have something to offer – and quiet and small enough so that you are not constantly distracted from your studies. Middelburg is the largest city in Zeeland, well-connected by public transport to big cities like Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Antwerp, and merely a half hour bike ride away from one of the many beaches in Zeeland.

Application
1. REGISTER IN STUDIELINK
- UCR has rolling admissions, and will start to evaluate your application as soon as it is complete.
- Studielink opens October 1 for applications to start in September. When you register, make sure to select Liberal Arts & Sciences (University College Roosevelt). For a start in February, Studielink opens on July 15.
2. UCR APPLICATION IN OSIRIS
You will need to upload the following documents in PDF:
- Your letter of motivation
- Your grade list/transcript
- Your diploma statement or copy of your completed diploma
- English test results (if applicable)
- Copy of your passport
Additionally:
- The name and e-mail address of your referee(s)
3. INTERVIEW
- Once your application is complete and has been positively evaluated you will be invited for an online interview.
4. DECISION
- We strive to give you a decision within 6-8 weeks of receiving your completed application.
- After your interview we will determine whether or not you fit at UCR. If yes, you will be offered a place. Please respond to our offer within two weeks (10 working days).
APPLY BY
April 1/May 1* to start in the Fall semester, in late August.
October 1/November 1* to start in the Spring semester, in late January.
*The April and October deadlines apply if you have a non-EEA passport, to allow time for your visa application.
